As reported earlier today, former Olympian Nick Green is taking on a new challenge at Aon – becoming the brokerage’s new head of sales for global and corporate clients while also retaining his responsibilities as sports head.

Commenting on the appointment, Green said he’s “thrilled” to be taking on the lead sales role during a particularly exciting time for Australia’s insurance market.

“The industry is experiencing major changes as it adapts and responds to the risks and opportunities of a shifting and dynamic global market,” he said.

Green, who joined Aon just last year, will now lead a national team of specialists who are tasked with driving new business and supporting national industry practice groups.

“By identifying and qualifying risks, we can work hand in hand with our clients to build a roadmap of action, whether it be risk mitigation measures for emerging risks or providing a suite of tools or solutions specific to their needs,” he said.

Formerly the CEO of Cycling Australia, as well as a celebrated elite athlete and gold-medal winning Olympian, Green brings a vast and varied skill set to the table.

“Aon is committed to creating a diverse and collaborate workplace that embraces the unique talents, backgrounds and skillsets of its people,” said CEO James Baum.

“Today’s organisations need experts that can navigate the unique challenges and opportunities presented by the ever changing and often volatile market,” he continued.

“Nick’s dedication to a client-first approach comes from a lifetime of drive, discipline and team spirit. I have no doubt that he will continue to utilise these values to create long term and sustainable growth for the business.”
