Australasia's largest and longest-running third-party claims administrator has appointed a new head of automation for its Australian and New Zealand business.

As Gallagher Bassett's new head of automation, AI, and analytics, Sameer Oghanna will further the firm's digital initiatives by driving automation, harnessing AI, and embedding machine learning and analytics deeper into the business.

“Successful adoption will improve outcomes for our customers through more efficient and effective operational performance, and enable the discovery of new product lines for GB,” Oghanna said.

Oghanna will report to Julian Martin, general manager of information technology services at GB Australia and New Zealand.

“Artificial intelligence has the potential to completely transform the way we think about customer experiences in the insurance industry,” Martin said. “Sameer’s expertise, as well as his passion for delivering outstanding user experiences, will help us position our clients to thrive in this new landscape.”

Prior to taking on his new role, Oghanna was in charge of developing and executing GB's application and business intelligence strategy.
