IBA Awards: Just days left to nominate

There are only days left to nominate for one of the industry’s biggest annual events: the Insurance Business Australia Awards. Nominations close this coming Friday, April 29.

“Being a specialist means living and breathing the industry you are committed to. I recommend anyone that embodies this to be nominated for this award,” said Gary Sim (pictured), director of CCM Insurance Group and one of the most successful award winners.

CCM Insurance is a national, specialist construction insurance brokerage and risk advisory firm. Last year marked three consecutive years for the company winning the Specialist Brokerage of the Year Award, a prize sponsored by CHU Underwriting Agencies.

“It has been a privilege and honour to have won the award three years in a row,” said Sim. “I feel it is the perfect recognition of our staff’s commitment to provide industry leading service and advice to the construction industry.”

This year, once again, we are seeking nominations across 25 prestigious categories. The categories are open to brokers, brokerages, insurers, underwriting agencies, BDMs, claims teams, individuals, service providers and more.

The online nomination process is straightforward and free. Click here to nominate.

Another 2021 winner is Taylor Burstow from ShieldCover. Burstow won both the Australian Young Gun of the Year and the AXA XL Young Gun of the Year International awards.

“Being the Insurance Business Australian Young Gun of the Year and AXA XL’s Young Gun of the Year International remains a pivotal moment in my career,” said Burstow, who is currently head of business development.

Burstow described the recognition from peers and the insurance community as “fantastic”.

“While I often get a bit of banter from colleagues it is still an amazing feeling to be recognised as one of the best up and coming brokers in the industry,” he said.

Burstow modestly added that he hopes he can continue to represent the industry in a positive light and live up to the expectations that the award carries.

The Young Gun encourages industry professionals to nominate for the awards.

“If you know a colleague who you think is excelling or is outstanding in the insurance broking field, I highly recommend nominating them so they have the opportunity to be recognised and celebrated in the community,” said Burstow.

The Insurance Business Australia Awards proudly returns this year as an in-person, face-to-face event celebrating the nation’s best and brightest insurance industry professionals.

The 2022 Awards will be an in-person black-tie gala evening on September 02 at Doltone House, Darling Island in Sydney.

This year’s awards event is the fifth annual celebration and follows two years of virtual gatherings. The exciting occasion gives brokers, brokerages, insurers, underwriting agencies, BDMs, service providers and more the chance to be showcased on a national stage, while celebrating with all the glitz and glamour that they deserve.

Nominations will be shortlisted to identify the Excellence Awardees who will be announced in June 2022 on the Insurance Business website and through online channels.

Submissions of Excellence Awardees will then be forwarded to an independent judging panel who will score each submission according to the criteria. Scores will be aggregated to produce a single winner in each category.

This is the perfect chance to acknowledge outstanding achievements and hard work over a challenging year, so we encourage you to nominate your team, company, an exceptional colleague or even yourself.

We look forward to your nominations and toasting your remarkable achievements in good company.
