Insurance and Care NSW (icare) has appointed Stuart Farquharson as its new chief financial officer (CFO) to lead the organisational performance team.

Farquharson will join icare from global insurer Zurich's Australian and New Zealand general insurance arm, where he had been the CFO since July 2016. Before Zurich, he was the CFO of AIG Australia, responsible for regional finance in the Asia-Pacific region, including Australia, New Zealand, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, and Papua New Guinea.

In his new role at icare, commencing October 11, 2022, Farquharson will review and embed the insurance and care provider's strategy within its organisational performance division and provide a strategic financial decision.

icare CEO Richard Harding expects Farquharson to bring to the team his unique blend of experience in finance and commercial leadership across the general, life, and health insurance sectors.

“He is an experienced CFO with a demonstrated track record of building successful teams, managing transformation, and driving positive commercial outcomes. We are really pleased Stuart is joining the team,” Harding continued.

Shailendra Singh, a seasoned finance executive with over 30 years of experience in the financial services, information technology, and government sectors, will remain as the acting CFO until Farquharson takes on the role in October.
