A new chief executive will take the helm at Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group’s (JLT) global insurance broking business starting this April.

Lucy Clarke has been appointed global CEO of JLT Specialty, a newly-created position that places her in charge of the group’s worldwide insurance broking activities and sees her report to group CEO Dominic Burke.

The new role, which covers all the group’s business activities except reinsurance broking and employee benefits, was created following a 2017 re-examination of the group’s strategy; and reflects the increasing scale and importance of JLT’s insurance business, which accounted for some £765 million (AU$1.31 billion) of the group’s annual revenues in 2016.

“Lucy is recognised throughout JLT, among our clients and in the worldwide specialty insurance marketplace as unequalled in her commitment to clients’ interests and to the people who work at JLT,” Burke said. “I have every confidence that Lucy’s leadership of JLT’s global specialty businesses will drive the growth of our market share and support our strategy to become the leading global specialist risk adviser and broker.”

In a statement, JLT said bringing together all insurance broking activities under the JLT Specialty banner will better equip the group to realise its mission of becoming the leading global specialist risk adviser and broker.
