Liberty Specialty Markets has given its European business a boost by bringing in Valérie Baucher (pictured).

Baucher will take the position of underwriting manager for affinity and programme business across the continent, reporting to Pierre-Edouard Fraigneau, the chief underwriting officer for Europe, as well as head of client and distribution Kerry McKay.

According to head of Europe Kadidja Sinz, the team is looking forward to working with her.

“Her knowledge and expertise will be a considerable asset to our European business,” Sinz said. “This role was created to take advantage of the growing impact technology and data are having on insurance transactions. Her role will strengthen our focus on profitable and sustainable growth across Continental Europe and further supports our strategy to develop new distribution capabilities for our products, solutions and services to our broker partners.”

Baucher will take responsibility for the underwriting performance and governance of the affinity and programme business in Europe, as well as developing alternative distribution channels. She makes the switch from Partner Re, where she was underwriting manager, EMEA, for financial lines.

She will be based in the firm’s Paris office.
