Lloyd’s has announced the appointment of Eleanor Bucks to the newly created role of chief investment officer. In her new role, Bucks (pictured above) will build and lead Lloyd’s new investment platform.

Starting in September, Bucks will be based in London and will focus on the creation of the new Lloyd’s Market Investment Platform, which will enable greater scale and access to broader products. She will also oversee Lloyd’s treasury and investment management team.

Bucks has 20 years of experience in insurance and finance. She joins Lloyd’s from Legal & General, where she served as chief operating officer of its alternative asset platform, Legal & General Capital. She also previously held the roles of chief investment officer and managing director of direct investments and real assets at Legal & General Retirement, chair of LGIM Real Asset’s alternative investment fund manager, and director of Legal & General’s single-family build-to-rent business.

“I’m thrilled that Eleanor will be joining Lloyd’s to build and lead the Lloyd’s Market Investment Platform,” said Burkhard Keese, chief financial officer at Lloyd’s. “Eleanor joins Lloyd’s at an exciting time as we create an investment platform that will significantly improve investment returns for the market.

“With a strong track record of investing to support pensions and insurance in the UK, Bermuda and the US, she brings with her a valuable global perspective, which not only strengthens the existing investments team at Lloyd’s but also adds to the diverse representation of Lloyd’s senior leadership team.”
