McLardy McShane’s seventh annual FightMND Golf Day has achieved its highest fundraising total to date, collecting $120,000 to support FightMND and the Cure EB Foundation.

Held last Friday at Moonah Links on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, the event brought together players and supporters to contribute to the company’s community engagement efforts.

Neale Daniher, a prominent figure in raising awareness for motor neurone disease (MND), officially opened the day’s proceedings.

The event saw 120 participants tackling the course under challenging summer conditions, with teams led by Nick McLardy and Will Thompson, as well as John Naughton and Graeme Carson, tying for first place.

The evening program included a dinner hosted at the Continental Hotel in Sorrento, with 220 attendees.

Russel Howcroft, known for his work in media, acted as emcee for the night. Meanwhile, comedians Mick Molloy, Sam Pang, and Titus O’Reilly entertained the crowd. Renowned football journalists Mike Sheahan and Caroline Wilson also made appearances during the event.

Strengthening international ties

The fundraising milestone comes shortly after McLardy McShane completed its second UK tour, which focused on expanding professional expertise and fostering global connections.

Fourteen members of the company’s network participated in the nine-day program, which began in London and continued in Dublin.

The tour included a visit to Lloyd’s of London, where participants met with underwriters and brokers to discuss developments in the global insurance market. In Dublin, the group engaged with the Soar Foundation, a partner of McLardy McShane, and hosted the inaugural McLardy McShane London Cocktail Party.

CEO Don McLardy described the initiative as an opportunity to enhance the team’s industry knowledge and reward staff efforts.

“Visiting Lloyd’s was obviously a highlight, and Mike McShane and I have found it very humbling to watch our people represent the company so professionally with other brokers, underwriters, and the broader public over here,” he said.

He also emphasised the importance of building the company’s presence in key markets.

“The McLardy McShane name is becoming known in London, and we have no doubt many opportunities are going to open up for us in the future for the benefit of the broader group,” McLardy said.

The company aims to establish the UK tour as an annual initiative to further support employee development and strengthen its global partnerships.
