Global Transport Insurance, a subsidiary of Allianz Australia, has named its new CEO this morning after the current MD confirmed he would be retiring at the end of the year.

Glenn Lambert, who has been in the top spot at GTI since 2012, will be succeeded by Tony Dodd – a 25-year insurance veteran who has worked within GTI for over a decade.

Commenting on the appointment, Dodd said he is looking forward to taking on the new role and building on the momentum that GT has achieved in the market.

“GT Insurance has moved from strength to strength in order to become the second largest insurer in the heavy motor transport sector across Australia,” said Dodd.

“This result comes from the commitment and energy of our people, and I’m fortunate to have the opportunity to work with such a strong team.”

Dodd has been within GTI since 2006, most recently serving as the firm’s general manager of sales and distribution – a role he held for the last four years.

Allianz Australia MD Richard Feledy said he had no doubts Dodd would be able to leverage GTI’s existing place in the market to achieve further success for the firm.

“Tony is a strong leader who brings to the role a wealth of experience and industry knowledge,” he said. “I’m confident he is well-equipped to navigate the unique challenges that lie ahead in order to create new opportunities for the business, and I am looking forward to this exciting new chapter in the growth of GT Insurance under Tony’s leadership.”

Dodd will commence his role as GT Insurance CEO on 1 January 2020.
