An independent insurance body has announced the regional winners of two awards which recognise excellence in the insurance broking profession, and who will be participating in the national awards in September.

The National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) has named Brett Piggott, of Willis Temby Insurance Brokers, as the winner of the Broker of the Year Award, and Jamie Rigoli, of JLT, as the recipient of the Young Broker of the Year Award. The two will now proceed to contest national awards, which will be announced in September.

“We wish Brett and Jamie the best of luck in the national awards, and we congratulate all the finalists who exemplify the highest standards of professionalism and competence in the broking industry,” said NIBA CEO Dallas Booth.

Peter McLachan, regional manager for WA at QBE, which sponsored the Broker of the Year Award, commended Piggott for his win.

“Congratulations to Brett Piggott as the WA Broker of the Year winner,” he said. “His passion for his customers, commitment to the sector, and belief in developing young people in our industry clearly shone through the process.”

Andrew Walker, state manager for WA at Vero, sponsor of the Young Professional Broker of the Year Award, meanwhile, lauded Rigoli.

“Jamie is the embodiment of the next generation of broking leaders – he left high school with aspirations of joining the profession,” he noted. “He has built a reputation for high standards.”

The two WA winners will be among the regional winners who will vie for the national Stephen Ball Memorial Award for Broker of the Year and Warren Tickle Memorial Award for Young Professional Broker of the Year.

The event will be held at NIBA’s National Convention in Sydney on September 11.
