QBE Insurance has celebrated its 10th year as principal partner to the NSW Swifts netball team, and has announced a three-year extension to its partnership with the team.

The insurer celebrated the milestone with the Swifts legends – past and present – at a Sydney event last week, which also doubled as the club's 2018 season launch. The event was hosted by Liz Ellis AO.

QBE teamed up with the Swifts in 2008, when the team underwent a name change from “Sydney Swifts” to “NSW Swifts” ahead of the 2008 Trans-Tasman Netball Championship, and the relationship has grown since.

“QBE is proud to be one of the early advocates of women in sport in Australia,” said Bettina Pidcock, chief customer officer for QBE Australia and New Zealand. “We’ve partnered with the Swifts for 10 years now. We’re excited to continue this partnership and have renewed our commitment to the Swifts for another three years.”

Carolyn Campbell, CEO of Netball NSW, said NSW Swifts has become one of the most respected teams in Australian sport over the course of the last 10 years through the outstanding support of their partners.

“As our principal partner over the last decade, QBE Insurance has been at the forefront of this support and their investment has helped the club, and the sport of netball, grow and flourish,” Campbell said. “QBE Insurance has been one of those key supporters for over 10 years now and was supporting women in sport from the very beginning. For that we will be forever grateful. The sports market in Australia, and particularly NSW, is one of the most competitive in the world and we are delighted to have QBE Insurance back on board for another three years. We have had great success in the past and look forward to adding to this in the coming years.”
