QBE Insurance has overhauled its legacy claims process with the implementation of a new data-driven solution that automates non-complex claims to ensure a faster recovery time for customers.

QBE said its property decisioning tool, one of the first in-house developed data products to complete its pilot testing and go to market, can quickly determine the likely complexity of a claim, the repairs needed, and immediately engage the correct supplier to start the recovery.

The data-driven solution is also said to change recovery from 85% reliance on national builders to focusing on local and regional builders for both commercial and residential work.

“Our property decisioning tool has enabled us to challenge the traditional claims model by automating non-complex claims, improving and speeding up the recovery process,” said Jon Fox, QBE chief claims officer.

QBE also announced that it forged a new loss adjuster partnership with Sedgwick. The deal will see Sedgwick focusing on being the primary partner on all types of property claims, with QBE contracting five other loss adjuster firms to maintain geographic capability and coverage.
