Queensland’s largest motoring club is set to expand its footprint outside state borders by underwriting pet insurance for fellow auto club insurer RACV in Victoria.

The deal follows similar arrangements with RAC Western Australia and National Seniors Australia.

“It’s great to be able to continue to leverage the technology and expertise we have in pet insurance, while ensuring all benefits are returned to RACQ members,” said John Myler, RACQ insurance CEO. “Underwriting this product outside our home state is a great way RACQ can build scale and increase revenue to benefit our members and their communities right here in Queensland. Also, all underwriting and pricing work will be done right here, as will all claims management, which means more jobs for Queenslanders.”

RACQ launched its pet insurance offering in October 2015, with more than 12,000 Queenslanders taking up the cover.
