Zurich Financial Services Australia has welcomed back a senior investments expert, in a move that strengthens its life and investments business and consequently reinforces its risk offering in the country.

Matthew Drennan, Zurich's director of investments and executive manager of investments from 2008-12, will return to the firm as head of savings and investments, to develop and drive Zurich's investment strategy in Australia.

Drennan brings to the newly created role more than 25 years of experience, most recently as group head of research and portfolio construction at IOOF, and before that as chief investment officer at SFG Australia.

Tim Bailey, Zurich Life and Investments CEO, said Drennan will be a great asset to the Zurich executive and the business as a whole “in providing a combination of deep expertise and external market intelligence, along with excellent fund manager relationships.”

Drennan will commence the role on March 1st.
