Life-insurance specialist TAL has partnered with health insurer nib to launch a new health-insurance offering.

Initially offered through a select group of financial advisers, the new TAL health-insurance offering will enable advisers to refer customers to the TAL health-insurance team at nib to review their health insurance needs. Customers referred by their adviser will receive a 5% discount on their TAL health insurance cover, while those who take up a combined hospital-and-extras policy before Jan. 31 may also be eligible for an additional $200 off on their premiums.

Justin Delaney, TAL chief operating officer, said the new product will help TAL’s adviser partners to deepen their customer relationships.

“With this offering, we have created a very simple way for advisers to help customers assess whether they have the right cover for their needs, while offering a discount when referred by their adviser,” Delaney said.

Rhod McKensey, nib Group executive of Australian residents’ health insurance, said the strategic distribution partnership allows TAL to leverage nib’s expertise and skills.

“We’re excited to continue to build our very strong health insurance white-labelling capability through the addition of TAL to our existing group of highly valued partners who share our passion for great customer service,” McKensey said.

TAL said the new offering was developed based on insights from customers, financial advisers, and key market, and will continue to evolve based on ongoing customer and adviser feedback.
