Brisbane-based insurer Suncorp has taken on the role of principal partner of Queensland Ballet.

Announced during Queensland Ballet's season 2018 launch, the tie-up will enable Suncorp to help the ballet company expand its reach to more communities and make the arts more accessible across regional and metropolitan Queensland.

As principal partner, the insurer will support Queensland Ballet's regional events as well as its Wish Upon a Ballet Star program, which offers dancers within the state the chance to win a role in the performance of The Nutcracker, behind-the-scenes tours, and a meet-and-greet with Queensland Ballet dancers. The insurer will also provide access to unique experiences, rewards, and free events.

“This year’s Wish Upon a Ballet Star program will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, with Queensland Ballet artistic director, Li Cunxin, returning to the stage in that performance. One aspiring Queensland dancer has the opportunity to join one of the world’s ballet greats on stage,” said Michael Cameron, Suncorp CEO and managing director.

“We are continuing to show our support for our partners in sport and the arts in ways that matter to our customers,” Cameron said.

Cunxin said he was excited about what the partnership would bring to Queensland.

“Suncorp shares our desire to connect communities, deliver strong arts and cultural experiences and to make the arts accessible to all,” Cunxin said. “It’s this shared commitment that has brought us together.”
