Suncorp Group has partnered with the Confident Girls Foundation, an affiliate of Netball Australia, to launch a new initiative that aims to financially support Queensland netball clubs impacted by natural disasters.

The new initiative, Suncorp Spirit Fund, will provide grants up to $2,500 to netball clubs impacted by natural disasters to help them rebuild and restore facilities, purchase new equipment, or hold events to support grassroots netball further.

The Confident Girls Foundation partners with grassroots netball to support girls and their communities during challenging times. It has supported 73,774 girls nationally and raised over $1.6 million since its establishment in 2017.

Confident Girls Foundation CEO Nadine Cohen commented: “Netball plays a critical role in bringing women and girls together – giving them the opportunity to learn, play, and grow in a supportive environment.”

“Unfortunately, throughout Queensland, too many of our netball clubs have been impacted by severe weather – storms, bushfires, floods, and cyclones – and it prevents them from not only opening their doors but also providing our girls with somewhere to go.”

Suncorp CEO Insurance Product & Portfolio Lisa Harrison encourages Queensland netball clubs to get involved.

“At Suncorp, we're incredibly passionate about supporting women and helping girls reach their potential and achieve their dreams – and netball provides the perfect platform to directly and positively impact the wellbeing of girls across the country,” Harrison said.

“The Suncorp Spirit Fund will empower local netball clubs impacted by natural disasters to rebuild, reopen, and continue to support and encourage girls across the state to grow into confident, strong leaders of tomorrow.”
