Insurance Business Australia (IB) recently announced the winners of the 2023 Elite Women list, comprising of female insurance professionals across Australia who have made a meaningful contribution to the industry.

As part of the IB Elite Women 2023 special report, the IB research team interviewed a subject matter expert – Kristi Riedel, vice president of The Association for Women in Insurance (Queensland) – for an independent analysis of the report and its findings.

Key traits of female insurance leaders

Riedel said the key traits seen in these celebrated female insurance leaders included:

  • confidence;
  • ability to take decisive actions;
  • capability to make difficult decisions;
  • ability to inspire their team and bring out the best in them.

“I have worked with industry leaders who are considered preeminent in their areas of expertise, and while intellectually brilliant, what I found most impressive about them was their unfailing politeness, thoughtfulness and kindness,” Riedel told IB. “Those are the qualities that caused those people to stand out.”
