Online business insurer BizCover has unveiled BizCover for Kids, a new service designed to cater to the insurance needs of the country’s budding entrepreneurs – or, well, not really.

The ‘offering’ aims to extend the same level of protection to children’s businesses that over 220,000 Australian small enterprises currently enjoy.

What is BizCover for Kids?

Through an alleged collaboration with eight new key entities – including Toycover, Play Protector, and Kidsinsure – BizCover for Kids jokingly offers “bespoke” insurance solutions. It adapts adult-sized protections for the entrepreneurial endeavours of the younger generation, ranging from lemonade stands to imaginative constructions.

The launch supposedly introduces a set of insurance options specifically developed for the challenges young business owners might face. Coverage options include:

  • Slips, Trips, and Falls Shield for culinary mishaps;
  • Bad Advice Shield to address educational misunderstandings;
  • Ouchie Shield, which covers minor injuries; and
  • Stocks and Stuff Shield, which protects the assets of these nascent ventures.

Sharon Kenny, marketing head at BizCover, stressed the company’s commitment to acknowledging the entrepreneurial spirit in children.

“At BizCover, we believe that kids’ businesses are big businesses, and our commitment is to find ways to make their already busy lives easier, allowing them not only to be protected but to grow and thrive,” she said. “And for every successful mini small business adventure, we are sure there will be very happy parents supporting their kids every step of the way.”

The product is only available with the necessary parental consent, the company added.

Of course, this was all just an elaborate April 1 PR prank – and the cover is not really available. Still, it made us chuckle here at IB.

On a more legitimate note, BizCover recently launched a marketing campaign aimed at supporting emerging tennis talents.
