AIA New Zealand has appointed Dame Paula Rebstock (pictured above) to its board as an independent non-executive director.

Rebstock, who will join AIA’s board next month, is an Auckland-based economist and company director, who was made a Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2015 for services to the state. She holds a master’s degree in economics from the London School of Economics.

Across her career, Rebstock has held leadership roles in corporate and public entities, including current positions as chair of Asia Pacific Healthcare Group, Kiwi Group Holdings, and Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Whai Māia; as deputy chair of Vector, and director of Sealink New Zealand. She is also a former chair of the New Zealand Commerce Commission and Accident Compensation Corporation, deputy chair of KiwiRail, and director of Auckland Transport.

“We are delighted to have someone of Dame Paula’s calibre join the AIA NZ board,” said AIA NZ chair Theresa Gattung. “Her impressive breadth of experience at some of New Zealand’s most significant organisations will be of great value to AIA NZ and to our leadership team.”

“I’m very much looking forward to working with Theresa and the rest of the AIA NZ board, and to be a part of AIA NZ’s long-term commitment to helping New Zealanders live healthier, longer, better lives,” Rebstock said.
