In the wake of the devastating terrorist shooting in Christchurch, AIA/Sovereign has announced that it has set up a dedicated insurance support service for all affected customers.

Last Friday (March 15), a gunman killed 50 people at two mosques in Christchurch. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said the incident was “one of New Zealand’s darkest days” and called the massacre an unprecedented terrorist attack.

Now, AIA/Sovereign’s customer care team will provide life and health insurance assistance to affected customers.

“It’s been a difficult few days for New Zealand and for all New Zealanders,” said Nick Stanhope, CEO of AIA/Sovereign. “Our company prides itself on being there when it really matters. This time matters.

“If any of our customers, their family or loved ones have been affected by this tragedy, we ask that they reach out. We have staff on stand-by to help.”

“The effects of Friday’s tragic event in Christchurch will continue for some time,” added Sharron-Moana Botica, chief customer officer at AIA/Sovereign. “We have started this service with the hope that we can do what we can for our customers and their families in the immediate term. We are here to help.”

Customers affected by this event are asked to call 0800 500 108.
