Chubb has appointed Chris Gough as its new head of property & casualty for Australia and New Zealand – replacing Peter Kelaher, the insurer's new country president for Australia and New Zealand.

Gough (pictured) has 20 years of experience in the insurance industry. He started his insurance career as an underwriter with a local insurer, then joined Chubb Hong Kong in 2013 to build the employee compensation insurance portfolio. Throughout the years, he has been promoted to roles of increasing responsibility.

Before taking up his new role, Gough served as Chubb's casualty manager for Australia and New Zealand since 2017.

As the new head of property & casualty for Australia and New Zealand, Gough will be responsible for managing Chubb's commercial property & casualty operations – including energy, construction, casualty, financial lines, surety, environmental liability, marine, property, and industry practice solutions. His remit will also include the insurer's client segments, the small commercial and middle-market division, and major accounts division.

Commenting on Gough's appointment, Kelaher said: “Chris has demonstrated leadership in underwriting, analytics, and portfolio management during his successful tenure as our casualty manager. He is a proven leader with a strong vision for the business. I am delighted that we can again promote talent from within our ranks to a pivotal position for Chubb in Australia and New Zealand.”
