Travel insurance company Cover-More has been named as one of the finalists at the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF)’s annual Insurance Industry Awards for its travel app – and it is thrilled to be in the running.

The Corporate Travel Insurance app, which resulted in the firm’s nomination for the “Innovation of the Year” category, aims to help corporate employees, brokers, and agents easily manage business travel.

“We identified an opportunity to build an app that made business travel easier for everyone involved, but imperatively, enhance safety for our corporate customers before, during and after they travel,” said Bruce Morrison, chief executive of Cover-More New Zealand.

The app focuses on the traveller’s safety during their journey by providing real-time safety alerts before and during the trip, the ability to “tap to call” Cover-More’s 24/7 medical assistance team anywhere, and an option to add travel companions to their policy. It also allows the traveller to lodge claims when needed.

Moreover, the app allows travellers to toggle on when they leave then toggle off when they return, with the help of geo-fencing to record actual travel days in real time and accurately calculate premiums – therefore allowing the traveller to only pay for travel insurance on the days they are travelling.

The winner of the “Innovation of the Year” award will be announced at the ANZIIF New Zealand Insurance Awards ceremony on November 27, 2019.
