Argo Group International Holdings has announced the appointment of Matt Harris to lead the company’s Europe and Asia operations to take effect immediately. In his new role, Harris will report to the company’s international head, Jose Hernandez.

Harris brings with him more than 25 years of insurance experience, with expertise in various operational disciplines.

Prior to his appointment at Argo Group, Harris served as the CEO of AIG New Zealand and led other regional operations. His career has spanned senior management assignments across multiple distribution channels and product segments.

“Matt has a wealth of industry experience and a broad set of skills that fully align with Argo’s ambitions,” Argo Group chief executive Mark Watson III said. “His appointment is the latest step in positioning our company to execute or international growth strategy.”

Harris said he looks forward to leading the global specialty insurer and reinsurer team across Europe and Asia.

“I’m thrilled to join such a progressive and ambitious organization as Argo,” Harris said.

Harris is a senior associate member with the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance.
