IAG New Zealand has announced some updates to its board, starting with the appointment of Catherine Drayton as its new independent non-executive director. Her appointment to the insurer’s board took place on May 19.

Drayton currently serves as chair for Christchurch International Airport, Guardians of NZ Superannuation, Mint Innovation, and Connexa. She is also a board member for Genesis Energy as well as holding various director and trustee roles with Southern Cross. Drayton also has extensive experience from former governance roles, including the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority. Prior to her board roles, she had a global assurance and advisory career.

In the same announcement, IAG also announced that Wendy Lai has resigned from her post as independent non-executive director. Her resignation is effective on May 31. IAG New Zealand board chair Simon Allen welcomed Drayton into her new role, as well as bidding farewell to Lai and wishing her the best in her future endeavours.

“We are extremely pleased to have someone of Catherine’s calibre join us. The depth of experience she brings from across a wide range of sectors, as well as her practical executive experience, will be a valuable addition to the board,” Allen said.
