IAG has strengthened its consumer brands department with the appointment of Paula ter Brake as executive general manager (EGM).

Ter Brake was previously EGM for distribution for the New Zealand insurer, and she held this role from her hiring in September 2022. She previously held the role of chief risk officer for Tower Insurance, and currently acts as a director for First Rescue NZ, Repairhub New Zealand, and Weston & Wellington.

According to her LinkedIn page, which reflected her new role as EGM for consumer brands, ter Brake has several certificates and a diploma in financial services, loans, insurance, and regulation from University College Dublin, a diploma in strategic marketing management from Irish Management Institute, and a certificate in company direction and governance from the Institute of Directors in New Zealand.

IAG NZ chief executive Amanda Whiting praised ter Brake’s hiring in September, saying that her “vision and strategic outlook will be an excellent asset to the broader team.”

Amanda Whiting recognized as one of the Best Female Insurance Leaders in NZ. See the full list of winners in IB's Elite Women 2023 special report.
