The Insurance and Financial Services Ombudsman (IFSO) has appointed Professor John McMillan AO to conduct the 2018 IFSO Scheme independent review.

Every five years, the IFSO is required to conduct an independent review of its complaints handling service, aiming to continuously improve its scheme performance.

The IFSO said the independent review has started and it will focus on the principles of accountability and effectiveness that guide the IFSO complaint handling service.

The commission said McMillan brings considerable experience, including his roles in Australia as an Ombudsman, independent agency head and administrative lawyer.

Moreover, IFSO said the reviewer would be pleased to accept a submission or comments on any aspect of the independent review. Interested parties have until June 08 to submit.
