A global insurance organisation has announced the appointment of a new head of its New Zealand business.

American International Group Inc. has appointed Elliot Hill as CEO of AIG Insurance New Zealand, effective October 01, 2017.

Hill will transfer from Melbourne, Australia to NZ to succeed CEO Mike Raines. He will be working closely with Raines until the latter’s departure at the end of September.

In his new role, Hill “will drive AIG’s strategic priorities to enhance our offering, focus on our customer journey, and build on the robust internal culture to further strengthen AIG’s position in the New Zealand market,” said Rudi Spaan, president and CEO AIG Hong Kong and head of country operations for Greater China & Australasia.

With more than 10 year’s insurance experience, Hill most recently led the client engagement and major accounts practice of AIG’s Australian business. Before joining AIG, he was CEO for RSA in Singapore and general counsel for RSA in London.

In addition to his insurance career, Hill also has extensive legal experience in merger and acquisitions and corporate governance for emerging markets.
