WTW has announced the appointment of Evan Freely (pictured above) as global head of financial solutions. Freely will be based in New York and report to Alastair Swift, head of global lines of business, risk and broking at WTW.

In his new role, Freely will be responsible for the company’s global financial team of 130 credit and political risk professionals in 24 countries. The team covers trade credit, banking and capital markets, investment management, fintech, and non-banking financial institutions.

Freely has more than 30 years of experience in global credit and political risk insurance. Prior to joining WTW, he served as president and director, Americas, at BPL Global. He previously served as global practice leader for credit specialties at Marsh.

“In today’s uncertain economic environment, clients increasingly seek financial solutions for their credit and political risk needs, and this sector is a strong growth area,” Swift said. “Evan’s extensive background in financial solutions, coupled with WTW’s value proposition around superior data insights, analytics, and exceptional client service, will enable WTW to build on the strength and depth of our global financial solutions offering across the globe. We are delighted to welcome Evan to the WTW team.”

“I’m excited to be given the opportunity to lead the WTW financial solutions team, which enjoys such a strong reputation in the market,” Freely said. “I look forward to working with my WTW colleagues as we continue to invest in people and technology to provide the industry’s highest level of service for clients.”

Freely is the latest addition to the WTW team. On Friday, the company announced the appointment of three new board members, who will step into their new roles in April.
