Zurich unveils moves at group level

The movement at the top of Zurich Insurance Group continues with a couple of notable moves just announced.

Firstly, Sierra Signorelli (pictured above), takes the role of group chief underwriting officer (CUO), reporting to CEO of commercial insurance James Shea.

Signorelli, currently the CUO for commercial insurance, will now oversee the underwriting function across the group. The idea is that by bringing the function under one leader, Zurich will be able to sharpen its underwriting focus and improve capabilities throughout the organisation. In total, she has more than 20 years of underwriting experience and has held leadership positions in both the US and Asia-Pacific.

Meanwhile, group claims, led by Ian Thompson (pictured below), is set to move to commercial insurance.

Thompson will continue as group chief claims officer and was credited with helping group claims to make significant strides over the last two years. The hope is that by bringing the two functions under one structure, underwriters and customers will reap the benefits of more focused support.

All of the above changes become effective on October 01.
