Asteron Life is celebrating a big win after its claims team received an award for the team of the year category at the 2023 Financial Services Council (FSC) Awards.

The life insurer’s claims team is made up of two specialist teams that manage and assist the firm’s customers on claiming for their covers. Asteron Life executive manager for claims and customer solutions Seema Bangera said that this team is passionate about what they do, and it shows through how it delivers support and assistance to customers when they need it most.

The distinction from the FSC was judged on many factors, including how the team contributed to Asteron Life’s goals and performance as well as its cohesion in working together and making the lives of Kiwis better.

With Asteron Life’ digitalization push as one of its strategic pillars, the claims team has contributed to this with its life claims simplification project which will migrate its system to a more modern platform. It will help deliver more effective reporting management for life claims, produce richer customer and claims data for better outcomes, and overall make Asteron Life’s business more efficient.

“Throughout this project it’s been great to see members of the team taking on roles as subject matter experts, working through system discovery and testing, all whilst maintaining claims performance,” Bangera said.

Asteron Life claims team manager Scott Jensen said that he is proud of the team and how the company’s people across the business are working together to help enhance the customer journey.

“Through a mentoring programme the team have solidified the way they work, which contributes to learning and development but ultimately ensures consistency across claims outcomes. Receiving the highly commended award means a lot to the team and it is particularly great to receive recognition from the industry,” Jensen said.
