Southern Cross Health Insurance has announced a significant change in its leadership team, with Regan Savage (pictured above) stepping into the role of chief sales and marketing officer.

This move comes after the departure of Kerry Boielle, who is set to join TSB as its new chief executive in January.

Savage, who has been with the company for three years as head of marketing, was selected for his extensive experience, which includes senior positions at Trade Me and Kiwibank, as well as his involvement in managing the Unite Against Covid-19 public engagement program.

Southern Cross CEO Nick Astwick highlighted Savage's strategic thinking and comprehensive skill set, which are seen as key assets for guiding the sales and marketing team and advancing the company's focus on member-centric strategies.

“Regan has been instrumental, alongside his team, in developing the Southern Cross brand and has played a significant role in introducing our member wellbeing benefits, including Raise counselling or wellbeing coaching, CareHQ online GP consultations, and MedPro health checks,” Astwick said.

In addition to announcing Savage's appointment, Astwick also acknowledged Boielle's significant contributions to the company, praising her leadership and the strong foundation she established at Southern Cross Health Insurance.

Elsewhere for the insurer, and in a recent interview with Insurance Business, Astwick also spoke about the company’s economic sustainability amid its status as New Zealand’s biggest health insurer that is also not-for-profit.
