Three big names announce new appointments
Three of Australia’s most prominent insurers have confirmed new appointments in recent days with QBE, Allianz and ATC announcing staff reshuffles.

QBE
Late last week, QBE named CFO Inder Singh as interim CEO for its Australia and New Zealand operations, effective November 01.

The decision comes as Pat Regan, currently ANZO CEO, prepares to step up into the group CEO role on January 01, 2018.

“I’m very confident in Inder and the wider leadership team in leading us through this transition period, continuing to focus on the great work we’ve been undertaking to set the business up for the future and successfully deliver on our plan for 2018 and beyond,” said Regan.

“With these leaders in place, we can be sure that the teams continue their focus on performance and that our customers and partners remain at the heart of what we do,” he added.

QBE confirmed the search for a permanent CEO is well underway but said it is unlikely a replacement will be found before Regan begins his new role.

Singh, who has been with the firm for five years, will be supported by QBE’s two distribution heads – Andrew Broughton, executive GM of consumer and retail partnerships, and Jason Clarke, executive GM of intermediary distribution.

Allianz
Yesterday, Allianz appointed a new chief technical officer, naming industry veteran Donna Walker as the latest addition to the executive team.

Walker joins the firm following a three-year stint at competitor IAG, where she served as executive general manager of broker business.

“Donna will be key to looking more broadly at our business and driving innovation across our technical capabilities,” said deputy managing director Richard Feledy, who is set to become managing director in January, 2018.

“Her deep commercial knowledge will make a strong contribution to our product and service models, while helping us drive our renewed focus on customers,” he continued. “I’m delighted that she is joining our leadership team.”

Walker became a member of the ANZIIF board earlier this year and served as chair of IAG’s Diversity and Inclusion Action Group – she will begin her new role on December 05, 2017.

ATC
ATC Insurance Solutions also announced a new appointment yesterday with Melbourne-based Jarrod Morey joining the firm as senior underwriter of sports, leisure and events.

With more than 20 years’ experience in the industry, Morey will be tasked with managing and growing the ATC’s existing portfolios in the southern states and Western Australia. He joins the organisation following a six-year stint at Sportcover.

ATC’s head of sports, Tim Martin, said he was excited to welcome Morey to the team given his knowledge and experience in the sports market.
