Zurich has made a new senior appointment in a bid to strengthen its trading capability and broker engagement.

Mark Hunt re-joins Zurich later this month as head of deal and broker management. In this role, he will work with Zurich’s regional managers in enhancing the insurer’s trading capability in all markets in which it operates across Australia and New Zealand.

Hunt’s appointment follows a stint leading a casualty-focussed Lloyd’s insurance consortium. He first joined Zurich in 2011 as senior casualty underwriter, then later held deal-management roles. Prior to that, he spent nearly two decades leading Lloyd’s liability syndicates in London.

“I am delighted to welcome Mark ‘home’ at a time when we are seeking to bring greater focus to our engagement with our broker partners and supercharge our deal-management capability,” said Giles Crowley, chief distribution and deal management officer at Zurich. “Mark’s appointment represents a step-change in our deal-management capability and helps bring to life our ambition to create a best-in-class distribution function and make decisions much closer to our customers.”

“Mark’s appointment is an endorsement of our renewed strategy, and our ability to attract top industry leaders,” said Tim Plant, general insurance CEO. “I look forward to working with him to bring the best of Zurich to our customers and broker partners.”
