RACQ Limited has begun its search for two independent non-executive directors to join its board. The recruitment follows the impending retirement of two current members.

The RACQ board structure includes six elected directors, two appointed directors, and the managing director and group CEO, who oversees daily operations while reporting to the board.

RACQ leadership recruitment

The organisation is seeking individuals with expertise in areas such as mobility innovation, digital transformation, member-focused services, and strategic partnerships to support its long-term goals.

Matthew Payten, RACQ’s group company secretary, highlighted the role of directors in steering the organisation’s strategy and management oversight.

“The role of our directors is to oversee and guide management with the aim of protecting and enhancing long-term member value by utilising their skills, experience, and knowledge in accordance with their director duties,” he said.

He also noted that the recruitment presents a chance for highly qualified candidates to bring board or senior executive experience to RACQ.

“With the upcoming retirement of two directors, this creates a unique opportunity for two highly skilled candidates with former board or senior executive experience to join the RACQ board,” Payten said.

What RACQ expects from applicants

Applicants must demonstrate governance expertise, strategic insight, and a track record of monitoring financial and non-financial performance, alongside a commitment to RACQ’s mission.

Applications close on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025, at 5pm. Details on the positions are available at RACQ’s recruitment website: https://racq.directorsaustralia.com.au.

RACQ forms partnership with Brisbane Entertainment Centre

The recruitment process begins after the announcement of RACQ’s new collaboration with the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, becoming its principal hospitality partner from February 2025.

The partnership aims to deliver exclusive benefits to RACQ members while contributing to broader developments in Australia’s live events sector.

Under the agreement, RACQ members will gain access to premium facilities at the venue, such as the RACQ Members Lounge, Deck, and VIP Members Suite.

The organisation also plans to allocate over 1,200 event tickets next year, offering opportunities through various promotions, including the “Golden Key” campaign. This initiative will provide one member with tickets to 10 marquee events in 2025.

Tim Cochrane, RACQ’s general manager of marketing, membership, and digital, said the collaboration expands RACQ’s value proposition for members.

“We want our members to feel like the VIPs they are, and this partnership allows us to go beyond our usual benefits to offer experiences they’ll treasure for years to come,” he said.

Brisbane Entertainment Centre general manager Trish McNamara said the partnership strengthens community engagement while offering unique experiences for RACQ members.

Harvey Lister AM, chairman and CEO of ASM Global APAC, noted that 2025 is expected to set new attendance records for live events at the venue.
