A government-owned central insurer has partnered up with one of the giants of the sector to facilitate the transition of the NSW workers’ compensation scheme.
has been tapped to manage icare workers insurance existing claims. However, it is understood that another agent will manage new claims from the scheme’s implementation on January 2018.

chief general manager, workers’ compensation, said the insurer, a top performer in the scheme, remains committed to supporting injured workers and their employers.

“While we are not the chosen agent for the new claims model, we will continue to do everything possible to support injured workers, as well as our own employees,” she said, as she stated that Allianz
has a proven track record in terms of supporting injured workers to quickly return to work and helping employers cut claim costs and premiums.
“We welcome the opportunity to support the scheme in the future given our extensive knowledge of workers compensation in NSW,” she added.
’s contract with icare, dated until December 31 next year, remains in place; and all current claims and injury management practices will remain constant.
