General insurance professionals may now submit their applications for the 2019 Bright Light Award, the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) and TurksLegal have announced.

Now in its second year, the award offers Australian residents who work directly in a capacity connected with general insurance (including workers’ compensation) the opportunity to pitch an idea or opinion on a topic related to general insurance claims to a panel of industry leaders, for a chance to win a significant career-development opportunity.

To enter, individuals or teams of up to three people need to present their idea or opinion specific to an area of claims or something that applies to general insurance claims as a whole, either through a short video submission (max five minutes), a written submission of up to 800 words, or a voiceover of images or PowerPoint.

The winner will receive a $5,000 cash prize, up to $1,500 to spend on coaching and professional development of their choice, and an exclusive opportunity to work with TurksLegal and ANZIIF to showcase their idea across the general insurance industry.

“There are so many fantastic people with many great ideas – big and small – in the general insurance profession in Australia,” said Paul Angus, partner at TurksLegal and head of the judging panel. “The Bright Light Award is so easy to enter and is the perfect opportunity for those ideas to be heard. The prize and the industry exposure make it something all those working in the industry – young and not-so-young – should have a go at.”

“We are delighted to continue our collaboration with TurksLegal and offer the Bright Light Award to a professional from the Australian Insurance Industry,” said Prue Willsford, ANZIIF CEO. “Entrants have the invaluable opportunity to have their ideas heard by senior industry leaders. I encourage all eligible individuals to apply.”

Applications for the Bright Light Award close at 5pm (AEST) on October 01. The finalists will be asked to participate in a short discussion to explore their idea in week commencing November 18, with the winners to be announced at the ANZIIF general insurance breakfast in Sydney on December 04.
