Australasia Underwriting (AUPL) has welcomed Alan Brett, an underwriting expert from the UK, to its leadership team.
Brett (pictured) has 20 years of experience in underwriting, distribution, and product development from Lloyds. He entered the insurance industry in July 2002 at AXA, where he spent over eight years serving various roles, such as development underwriter, account manager, area development manager, and key account manager. In October 2011, he moved to NIG Commercial as an area business development manager and then director of key accounts & London trading and head of strategic broker development.
Before moving to AUPL, he worked at Inperio Limited, focusing on product development. During his stay in this full-service independent managing general agent (MGA), he was responsible for creating and delivering a new product portfolio, building sales, marketing, and distribution strategies for accelerated growth.
Brett has been with AUPL since March 2022 as a commercial underwriting leader. In this role, he focuses on building distribution to accelerate the company's growth in specialist sectors, property ISR and general liability.
AUPL managing director Alan Mackay said the latest hire takes the company to another step in its mission to “bring human-centred expertise into what is now a marketplace so data-driven that many customers are finding themselves unable to access insurance products.”
