EBM RentCover has appointed a well-known figure in the real estate market to “spearhead” its expansion into South Australia.

Wayne Johnson, who has more than 25 years’ experience in real estate, will become RentCover’s executive relationship manager and will be able to provide on the ground support for landlords in the area.

A division of EBM Insurance Brokers, RentCover insures 120,000 rented properties across the country and is looking to capitalise on a gap in the market in South Australia.

“We plan to take advantage of what we feel is a gap in the local market for a specialist landlord insurer providing personalised, tailored service and advice to property managers and landlords. The time is right,” Johnson said.

General manager of RentCover, Sharon Fox-Slater, said Johnson’s move to RentCover was an important step for both himself and the company.

“Property is in Wayne’s DNA and he has a wealth of wisdom and experience to share with property managers and investors, helping guard against the risks associated with investing in real estate.”

Johnson stressed that landlord insurance is vital for anyone renting out a property that can provide an income stream of hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.

“Property managers and investors need to be aware of the role landlord insurance plays in protecting an asset worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, and an income stream of thousands of dollars a year."
