Melbourne is now home to Marsh & McLennan Companies’ third largest office worldwide, behind only New York and London, after relocating its existing city base to a new $1.7bn building.

The relocation of the Melbourne headquarters of Mercer, Marsh, Guy Carpenter and Oliver Wyman to the newly-built Collins Square development at 727 Collins Street, adds further support to Docklands’ claim of being Melbourne’s financial services hub.

The new office space is occupied primarily by Marsh and Mercer employees. Marsh vacated premises at 555 Lonsdale Street while Mercer consolidated its employees from three separate offices at 33 Exhibition Street, and 360 and 477 Collins Street.

The Marsh Mercer branded building will house some 1,500 MMC employees, occupying 22,882 square metres of office space.

“It’s always been our goal to bring our operating companies together under the one roof to share knowledge and resources.  We’ve achieved this goal in a state-of-the-art building in Collins Square,” said Peter Promnitz, chairman Marsh & McLennan Companies Australia.

Walker Corporation Chairman, Lang Walker added: “The Marsh Mercer building is a centrepiece of what is now Australia’s most exciting commercial development in Collins Square, which delivers a strong workplace and community interface to allow people to meet, work and play in the one area.”
