Nominations for the 2023 Insurance Business Australia Awards close in a few days – on May 12. This glamorous Sydney event on Sept. 15 celebrates the industry’s leading insurance professionals from across the country.

There’s still time to get your nominations in. The online process is straightforward and free. Click here to nominate.

Brokers and brokerages, insurers and insurance companies, agencies and underwriters, claims handlers and service companies – all can enter with a nomination. Nominating is the first step before an independent judging panel decides who gets an award on the big night of nights in September.

Young Guns please step forward

Insurance company AXA XL, is sponsoring the Young Gun of the Year – International Award.

“I’m proud that for the fifth year, AXA XL is sponsoring the Young Gun of the Year– International Award,” said Sydney-based Catherine Carlyon, the firm’s country manager for Australia. “Insurance is often overlooked as a career choice – we need to keep attracting talent as well as celebrating and supporting the development of the passionate individuals who are contributing to the future of insurance in Australia.”

Who has the best underwriting agency claims team?

The Underwriting Agency Claims Team of the Year is sponsored by Wilbur, the insurance claims technology company.

“Claims departments have been integral in assisting policyholders and providing peace of mind when disaster strikes,” said Brisbane-based James Pepplinkhouse, Wilbur’s chief technology officer. “The insurance world is nothing without the claims teams supporting it – and many insurance professionals know this too well.”

How’s your digital strategy looking?

Innovation Group, an operational support company serving the insurance industry, is sponsoring the award for Best Digital Strategy – Brokerage.

Innovation Group Australia’s managing director is Drew Schnehage. She said the time for traditional broking is in the past and the future is online digital platforms for both brokers and their policyholders.

“Brokers that are on the front foot to create a digital customer experience will be the front runners,” said Brisbane-based Schnehage. “We equally share their passion and are inspired by the entries this year and we look forward to celebrating their successes at the 2023 Insurance Business awards.”

25 prestigious categories

This year, IB is seeking nominations across a total of 25 prestigious categories that are open to brokers, brokerages, insurers, underwriting agencies, BDMs, claims teams, individuals, service providers and more.

It’s a black-tie gala evening

IB is excited to announce that the 2023 Awards will be an in-person black-tie gala evening on Sept. 15 at one of Sydney’s most beautiful and historic buildings: The Fullerton Hotel in Martin Place.

The National Trust regards this Italian Renaissance palazzo-style building as “one of Australia’s most beautiful.” The hotel is the former General Post Office (GPO) and was constructed on top of the Tank stream, the water supply for the early Sydney settlement.

Much of it was built in stages from 1865 to 1891 by colonial architect James Barnet, but it continued to be enlarged until the 1940s. According to the National Trust, the building’s developers aimed to make it “the most outstanding in the Southern Hemisphere.”

This is the ideal venue to acknowledge hard work and outstanding achievements over another challenging year for the industry. We encourage you to nominate your team, company, an exceptional colleague or even yourself.

Premium Partner and sponsors

IB would like to extend a special thanks to the 2023 Awards Premium Partner, the Underwriting Agencies Council (UAC).

“Industry awards allow us to highlight and celebrate the achievements of individuals and organisations within our industry,” said UAC CEO Jenny Bax. “They showcase innovation and passion for success and are a cause to celebrate.”

UAC is the sponsor of two of the awards: the Underwriting Agency and the Underwriting Agency BDM of the Year awards.

Appreciation and thanks also go to the other awards sponsors: AAMC, AXA XL, CHU Underwriting Agencies, Innovation Group, QBE and Wilbur for supporting this event and encouraging insurance excellence.
