The annual Insurance Business Australia Awards is open for your nominations and proudly planning an exceptionally glamorous night.

The awards celebrate the best and brightest insurance industry professionals in the country, both individuals and businesses. That means brokers and brokerages, insurers and insurance companies, underwriters and agencies, claims handlers and service companies – all can enter the fray with a nomination.

IB is excited to announce that the 2023 Awards will be an in-person black-tie gala evening on September 15, 2023, at one of Sydney’s most beautiful and historic buildings: The Fullerton Hotel in Martin Place.

See the list of awardees for IB's Insurance Industry Professionals | Global 100 in our special report.

Nominations by May 12

Be a part of this iconic industry gathering by nominating a colleague – or even yourself! – for these prestigious awards. IB looks forward to receiving your nominations before the deadline of May 12.

The online nomination process is straightforward and free. Click here to nominate.

This year, IB is seeking nominations across 25 prestigious categories that are open to brokers, brokerages, insurers, underwriting agencies, BDMs, claims teams, individuals, service providers and more.

Nominations of not more than 500 words should focus on achievements and results from the previous 12 months. Any entry information marked confidential will not be released without permission.

The Insurance Business Awards team studies each nomination and, through research, consultations with experts and the industry knowledge base of Insurance Business Australia, identifies the outstanding nominations in each category.

These nominations are shortlisted to identify the Excellence Awardees who will be announced in July 2023 on the Insurance Business website and through online channels.

The submissions of the Excellence Awardees are then forwarded to an independent judging panel who score each submission according to the criteria. The judging panel is insurance industry leaders and senior representatives who are well known and respected within the industry. Every effort is made to ensure their judgements are impartial, balanced, incisive and fair. Scores are aggregated to produce a single winner in each category.

Winners will be revealed on the night of nights!

The winners will be revealed at the in-person gala on September 15 at The Fullerton Hotel in Sydney.

This is the ideal opportunity to acknowledge hard work and outstanding achievements over another challenging year. We encourage you to nominate your team, company, an exceptional colleague or even yourself!

IB looks forward to your nominations and celebrating your remarkable achievements with a glass of champagne and in fine company.

What do previous winners think?

Winning at the Insurance Business Australia Awards means joining the ranks of the best and brightest in the insurance industry. Take a look back at previous winners in this official commemorative guide.

Taylor Burstow is currently head of business development for East West Insurance Brokers. Brisbane-based Burstow won both the Australian Young Gun of the Year and the AXA XL Young Gun of the Year International awards.

“Being the Insurance Business Australian Young Gun of the Year and AXA XL’s Young Gun of the Year International remains a pivotal moment in my career,” said Burstow.

Gary Sim is another professional who has won big at previous awards. The director of CCM Insurance Group is one of the most successful winners with consecutive victories in the Specialist Brokerage of the Year Award.

“Being a specialist means living and breathing the industry you are committed to,” said Sim. “I recommend anyone that embodies this to be nominated for this award,” said Sim, director of CCM Insurance Group, a national, specialist construction insurance brokerage and risk advisory firm.

Blake Oliver Consulting, the insurance specialist recruitment and consulting firm, is a big supporter of the awards.

“Having worked in the industry myself, I understand how important the recognition for your hard work is and it means so much more knowing you were nominated by your peers,” said Daniel Marsh, Blake Oliver’s managing director. “You can’t beat the buzz of the room and being able to congratulate nominees and winners is what makes it special.”
