DUAL enhances liability coverage with new wordings

Insurance News

By Roxanne Libatique

DUAL has launched two updated liability insurance wordings as of the beginning of 2024.

These updates are designed to cater to both new business engagements and renewal policies.

New wordings

The first of the new offerings, the Broadform General and Products Liability Wording, is now accessible through DUAL's WebRater. This enhanced wording extends coverage for legal liabilities arising from third-party personal injury, property damage, and advertising liability claims. It is aimed at general liability policyholders seeking comprehensive coverage.

Additionally, DUAL has introduced the Resource Liability Wording, a bespoke insurance product specifically crafted for the mining and resource sector. This product is targeted at contractors and exploration policyholders within the industry, providing a tailored solution for the unique risks faced by these operations. This offering represents a rebranding and enhancement of what was previously known as the Resource Industry Liability Facility (RILF).

Improvements

Key enhancements to these new wordings include broad definitions of insured parties, personal injury, and property damage, alongside the introduction of new insuring clauses for defence costs and supplementary payments.

Furthermore, the policy enhancements introduce a sub-limit of $25,000 for claims preparation costs, covering professional fees and related expenses. A specific sub-limit of $250,000 has been allocated for property in care, custody, or control.

Additionally, the policies now offer a worldwide territorial limit, excluding North America, expanding the geographical coverage for policyholders.
