Gallagher, the international risk management firm, has announced the acquisition of National Insurance Group, a brokerage based in Torquay, Victoria.

“I’m delighted to welcome Chris Park and the National Insurance Group team to Gallagher,” said Gallagher Australia CEO, Sarah Lyons, in a media release.

Park founded National Insurance in 2015 which operates in Victoria and Tasmania. His Torquay office, according to the release, will be a new location among more than 30 Gallagher branches across Australia.

“We’ve known Chris for some time and he’s a highly successful and respected insurance professional who shares many of the values and ambitions we as a company hold,” said Lyons.

National Insurance will now use the Gallagher brand and have access to the global firm’s range of services.

The release said National Insurance has a broad range of, mostly Melbourne based clients, including reception and function centres and manufacturing, engineering and electronics firms.

The deal, said the release, is expected to open up Gallagher’s geographic reach in Victoria’s Surf Coast and provide “significant opportunities to grow” in the region.
