Gallagher Melbourne and Mulgrave have taken the Ice Bucket Challenge to raise funds for the fight against motor neurone disease (MND), a neurodegenerative disorder that causes a progressive weakness of many of the muscles and finally death.

MND has no cure or effective treatment, and every day at least two Australians are diagnosed with the disease while at least two die.

Fourteen Gallagher members got doused with icy water in East Melbourne and Mulgrave, raising a grand total of $4,270 to support FightMND, with Sean Gallagher, head of branches for Australia, personally doubling the highest individual donation.

Funds raised contribute to research, providing assistance, and equipment, and improving awareness.

Taking part in the East Melbourne challenge were Mike Mier, Emma O’Meara, Anthony Bobanac, Casey Caldera, Cindy Kocovic, Raymond Liu, Sue O’Brien, Brendon Kropp, Cameron Laing, Robert Khouri, Andrew Whittle, as well as Ben Giddings; while the Mulgrave event was participated by Casey Caldera, Christine Osborne, Amy Contarino, Brenna Shirtcliff, Brandon Mather, and Sean Rosetti.
