The Insurance Commission has tapped into additional resources to assist its ongoing legal battles over Bell Group liquidations.

ICWA said Wayne Martin, former chief justice of WA, and Jonathon Carson, former partner at Clifford Chance, will support ICWA in its endeavours to seek an end to the Bell Group liquidations, while legal advisers Quinn Emanuel, Jones Day, and the State Solicitor’s Office will continue to support the commission in the ongoing legal battles.

The long-running legal case started in 1995, with ICWA spending more than $200 million so far to recover the money it lost when bankers plundered the collapsed Alan Bond-controlled group in 1991 using ‘dodgy’ mortgages, PerthNow and The West Australian said.
