Chubb has hired AIG Australia's chief executive to run its property and casualty business in Australia and New Zealand. Meanwhile, Gallagher Australia has named John Mutton to lead its affinity division from early 2027, and DUAL Australia has added Berkley's Jane Makin as senior liability underwriter.
Chubb has appointed Kathleen Warden as head of property and casualty for Australia and New Zealand. Warden said in a LinkedIn post it was "a full-circle moment in my career this week as I return to Chubb", where her insurance career began, and that she is looking forward to reconnecting with customers and brokers. She was AIG's Australia chief executive from May 2025 until this month, after broker-engagement roles at AIG and Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance, according to her profile.
Chubb's local leadership has shifted this year: Ben Howell left as country president for Australia and New Zealand in April and Jon Longmore was named New Zealand country president in August.
Gallagher Australia has appointed John Mutton (pictured top) as managing director, affinity, commencing in early 2027, the broker said on LinkedIn. Mutton has more than 35 years of insurance and broking experience and will lead the growing affinity division while serving on the Australia Executive Committee. CEO Alex Lumby said he brings "a great reputation in the market".
Mutton joins from Community Broker Network, where he spent two years and was most recently chief commercial officer, and will report to Lumby. His earlier career includes senior roles at Marsh and NZI.
Jane Makin has started as senior liability underwriter at DUAL Australia, saying she is looking forward to "forging new relationships and nurturing existing ones". Based in Melbourne, she joins from Berkley Insurance Australia, where she spent more than three and a half years as an underwriter and then senior liability underwriter. Her earlier roles include Inglis Insurance Brokers, Sports Underwriting Australia and Calliden Insurance, according to her profile.
