Chubb names Jon Longmore as New Zealand country president

Chubb has appointed Jon Longmore as country president of New Zealand, giving brokers a new decision-maker across the insurer's commercial property and casualty, personal lines and accident and health portfolios from September 2026.

Longmore will be based in Auckland and will report to Chris Colahan, Chubb's country president for Australia and New Zealand (Acting), the company said in media release today.

He arrives with an Asia-Pacific track record rather than a New Zealand one. Longmore joined Chubb in 2011 and moved through senior underwriting and distribution roles in Australia before being appointed head of digital, Asia Pacific, based in Singapore, in 2018. He became Country President of Indonesia in 2020 and has most recently held the same role in Malaysia.

What Chubb says brokers get

Colahan pointed to Longmore's distribution background in announcing the appointment.

"In his 15 years with Chubb, Jon has built a deep understanding of our business through leadership roles in underwriting, distribution and digital," Colahan said. "He has a strong track record of developing high-performing teams with a genuine commitment to client and broker service, and he is well-positioned to lead the continued growth of our New Zealand business."

That framing matters for intermediaries. Chubb's New Zealand business spans commercial property and casualty, traditional and specialty personal lines and accident and health - lines where local underwriting authority and appetite are set from the country president's desk.

Filling a seat empty since autumn

Longmore succeeds David Morrow, who led the New Zealand business from March 2024 and left Chubb around March 2026 after 17 years with the company. Morrow announced the move himself in a post on LinkedIn, writing that it had been a privilege to lead the New Zealand business over the past two years and that he was proud of what the team had achieved. He said 2026 would be a year of travel and personal goals and noted that he had completed his first Ironman at Taupō.

Morrow was a New Zealand-grown appointment. He joined Chubb in 2009 as Property Manager for New Zealand and was previously Head of Property and Casualty for Chubb New Zealand, with roles in Thailand, Malaysia and Japan in between. Morrow built a domestic base and then went offshore; Longmore has spent the past eight years running Asian markets and arrives in Auckland without a New Zealand posting behind him. Brokers can reasonably read the appointment as Chubb importing digital and distribution experience rather than promoting from the local bench.

Chubb operates in 54 countries and territories. Parent company Chubb Limited is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker CB and employs approximately 45,000 people worldwide.
