Suncorp’s intermediated general insurance brand Resilium has launched a new strategy designed to help authorised representatives build a successful social media presence.

Teaming up with social strategy firm Obviam, Resilium will provide tools, templates, how-to guides and troubleshooting information to help its national network of advisers with websites, eNewsletters, and email alerts, and build a presence on Facebook and LinkedIn.

Resilium has also launched its own Facebook and LinkedIn sites in July to promote advisers as insurance experts and direct potential customers their way.

“Many of our advisers have wanted to participate in social media, but were concerned about getting it wrong and often didn’t know where to begin,” said Gerard McDermott, managing director, Resilium, pictured. “These tools will give advisers the confidence to tap into these new opportunities and reach a new audience.”

He said research suggested customers are increasingly looking to social and digital media for information and recommendations about their next purchases – including insurance – but researching insurance online can be more complicated than buying clothes or flights.

“It simply makes sense for our Advisers to look at these new opportunities very seriously and use social and digital media to reach new customers. This is why Resilium has decided to help our Advisers. It’s important that they have all the best-practice tools and guidance possible so they the can move into this area with confidence.”
