A leading brokerage and risk management firm has announced a new senior appointment this week in a move which will strengthen the firm’s aged-care capabilities.

Marsh confirmed yesterday that industry veteran Lyle Steffensen would be joining the team as national practice leader of care solutions, based in Sydney.

The newly-created role assumes responsibility for the ongoing success and further expansion of Marsh’s aged care portfolio, as well as leading growth and consolidating retention in the broader care sector across Australia.

“Lyle brings a practical and insightful response to the mysterious world of risk and insurance in this space and is well respected by clients, colleagues and insurers for her knowledge and experience,” said Marsh’s NSW corporate leader, Robert Lasovski.

With more than 20 years’ experience across different aspects of broking and risk consulting, Steffensen has operated in an advisory capacity to the federal government and to boards of ASX-listed, private and not-for-profit organisations in various industries.

Steffensen joins Marsh from Honan Insurance Group, where she was most recently the national health practice leader, providing technical resourcing in medical malpractice and other healthcare related insurable exposures across the business within Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and the US.

“We look forward to Lyle’s valuable input and contribution to this rapidly expanding and highly important industry sector and to introducing her to our clients, industry participants and colleagues alike,” added said Lasovski.
